The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)
Around the globe there are several thousands of schools which offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme IBDP. The certificate is globally accepted as a qualification for Universities. It is a demanding curriculum for students aged between 16 and 19 years. This extensive two-year programme teaches the students not only to become independent and self-confident adults, but also to explore their own creativity and sensitivity.
With it’s ideal location in Langenthal (where the cantons Bern, Solothurn, Aargau and Luzern meet) the Steiner School Movement in Switzerland will receive another highschool profile, which won’t compete with any other already existing profiles and which will be available for many Steiner school students, but also for students without any previous Steiner school experiences, as an alternitive to the cantonal highschool.
Bridge between Waldorfschool and University
With the connection of Waldorf education and an internationally recognised diploma, the IBPD in Langenthal offers the ideal bridge between Waldorf school and university, or a higher vocational education. Interested Waldorf students are optimally prepared for the IBDP. Students with sufficient English skills can join the IBDP after grade 11. The students can complete their studies at the school without needing to go to a cantonal highschool to do their final exams.
Pre-IB with language stay
We recommend interested students to join in grade eleven for optimal preparation. Our Pre-IB is based on Waldorf curricula, but focuses on art, mathematics, and language. It includes a three-month language stay in an English-speaking country because the IB is partially taught and examined in English. The students will, in certain subjects, be taught by IB teachers.
Host families for students
The IBDP school building is located directly next to the train station of Langenthal. Langenthal is accessible with public transport from many directions. For students who cannot commute, we offer a free service to find host families.
